new-york-city-fireworks_650Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks: Brooklyn Bridge Park

This is the largest pyrotechnic show in the U.S. and our bet is that it will be more impressive than Katy Perry at the Super Bowl! The sky will light up at 9:20pm at Brooklyn Bridge Park, but head there early to stake out a good spot – location, location, location! Enjoy views of the East River and Manhattan skyline while relaxing the afternoon away and celebrating your independence from the office.

NathansHotDogEatingContest_V1_460x285Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest: Coney Island

What’s more fun than watching someone eat 68 hot dogs in ten minutes? We’ll let you be the judge. Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs will be holding their annual hot dog eating contest near the Atlantic Ocean boardwalk, and once you’ve watched the skilled eaters feast around noon, you have the whole day ahead of you at Coney Island! (Maybe give the Cyclone a miss though given recent events…)

africanfestivalInternational African Art Festival: Fort Greene
The 44th annual International Art Festival runs for four days from Thursday, July 2 – Sunday, July 5 in Commodore Barry Park. The fun-filled, family-friendly event is a celebration of African culture. There will be food, music and dancing, a fashion show and talent show, AND a world-class marketplace selling jewelery, African fabrics, furniture, art and more.

Stick around for the post-game fireworks.
