We can all find Brooklyn a bit funny sometimes. All the kale, keffir and kombucha, artisanal beard oils, almond milk and mayonnaise… However if you’re looking to laugh in someone’s face without being offensive, here are our picks for the best comedy clubs in Brooklyn!

This legendary Chicago improv and sketch theater has fostered comedic talent like Jane Lynch, Andy Richter, Matt Walsh and Vanessa Bayer, so when they opened a theater and bar in a basement on Bedford Avenue, we almost wet ourselves out of excitement! Shows range from improv, musicals, plays and sketch-comedy from Thursday through Sunday in an “uncensored environment” – you have been warned.

Although it would be funny, or maybe just disturbing, you won’t find a dark room full of grandmas here surrounded by yarn. What you will find is a popular comedy show every Sunday night, hosted by Will Miles, Clark Jones and Kenny DeForest. The show, originally created by Hannibal Buress (Broad City’s Lincoln) features special guests each week. This is comedy at its finest and funniest, with past performers including Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Sarah Silverman, Louis CK and Aziz Ansari.

They say laughter is the best medicine, and if that means we get to go to Littlefield then we want to be sick all the time. Littlefield really does do it’s best to look after everyone. The 1920s textile warehouse has been transformed into a clean, green, eco-friendly venue, running on wind power and full of recycled materials. Monday nights are home to Wyatt Cenac’s comedy show Night Train. All the best local and international stand up comedians perform here and are guaranteed to make you giggle. Just the other week John Oliver dropped by!

Having once been called a “perfect bar” by The New York Times, it’s a pretty safe bet you’re going to have a good time here. Monday night is open mic night and ESonA, Brooklyn’s longest running comedy stand up. It’s completely free so it’s a great first Tinder date spot, and if the date is so bad that you want to cry, then at least you’ll have the tater tots, the $3 PBRs, and the comedy, which might make you laugh until you really do cry!
